God is God & knows all. In saying this, I know that He knew that Judas would be His ultimate betrayer. Knowing this, why did He allow him to be in the 12? I'm reading about a church who just shared that they are going to allow homosexuals to hold leadership roles in their church, active homosexuals I might add, as well as married & they would marry them. We should never allow this so why did Jesus? I had never thought about it before but I posted the article on FB & someone said something about Jesus allowing Judas to remain in the core group. Why do you believe he did?

Hi Tammy,
In Acts 1:16,17 we learn why...
“Brothers,” he said, “the Scriptures had to be fulfilled concerning Judas, who guided those who arrested Jesus. This was predicted long ago by the Holy Spirit, speaking through King David.

I believe that Jesus gave Judas, just as He does us, every chance in the world to repent. I believe that even when Judas kissed Jesus to give Him away to the soldiers. Luke 22: 47While He was still speaking, behold, a crowd came, and the one called Judas, one of the twelve, was preceding them; and he approached Jesus to kiss Him. 48But Jesus said to him, “Judas, are you betraying the Son of Man with a kiss?” 49When those who were around Him saw what was going to happen, they said, “Lord, shall we strike with the sword?”
I believe that Jesus gave Judas every single opportunity to repent, as He does with us.
Have you ever heard the term 'The Kiss Of Death'? I heard that this is where that saying came from.
A couple of questions to ponder.
1) Was Judas any different than the other 11 prior to the actual event unfolding?
2) Jesus knew the future and yet because God created a timeline for man to live in Judas was not guilty of betraying Jesus until he actually betrayed him in real time. Yes, it was known that he was going to betray Jesus, but the act had not yet been committed.
3) Beyond our understanding is God's ways. Why would He let a future betrayer come into the circle of twelve? I would speculate that it is part of the prophetic truths that were to come to pass. We can easily identify Judas as opposed to some obscure person coming out of the blue and causing Jesus to be betrayed. Remember that the betrayal was part of God's plan that led Jesus to the cross for us.
Now, this differs from what the church you mentioned is doing. Judas was going to sin against God ... these you mention are actively living in sin.
I understand that he was given every chance that anyone is given. I guess in my mind, I was thinking of him being on the pastoral staff & why was he allowed to stay there. I take away from what you guys are saying is the other 11 were just like him until the Sacrifice was made. I suppose since his sins weren't revealed until the time prophesied & this situation is blatant advertised sin, it's different. Thanks guys for your replies. If any other thoughts come to mind, feel free to add them.
I would say that Judas was not the same as the other 11 prior to the actual event unfolding.
Luke 22:3 says Then Satan entered Judas, called Iscariot, one of the Twelve.
There was an opening there for satan to enter in, something the others did not have.
Maybe it was unbelief, greed...The bible doesn't say. But somehow there was an opening for satan to enter in.
John 17: 12 While I was with them, I protected them and kept them safe by that name you gave me. None has been lost except the one doomed to destruction so that Scripture would be fulfilled.
If Jesus came to die for our sins, he had to be betrayed and offered up. In order to be betrayed, it had to be someone close to him. Jesus did this to fulfill scripture. Churches allowing gay marriage are going AGAINST scripture. That's the difference.
