Rox,

        I am happy to pray for you and your boyfriend, as requested, especially that he might come to a saving faith in our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.  I commend you for sharing the Gospel with him and your desire to lead him to Christ.  However, I must also share some words of caution, which I hope you will prayerfully and carefully consider.

        I realize that God may use you in such a situation to bring your boyfriend to faith in Christ.  If so, what a beautiful thing it is: God using you to bring him to Christ, and the Holy Spirit doing the rest.   But, at the same time, I must acknowledge that it won't necessarily happen.

        While you and I can share the Gospel with unbelievers, which is what we are charged to do by Jesus' Great Commission, only the Holy Spirit can lead people to Christ and salvation in him.

        Here are the downsides you need to clearly acknowledge.  It could be a bad evangelism strategy and a risky personal relationship strategy to date a nonbeliever and eventually fall in love with them.  Suppose your unbelieving boyfriend never converts?  Or suppose he makes a false profession of faith just to please you?  In either case, you'll find yourself in love with an unbeliever and potentially unequally yoked.  You'd be making a life together with someone who doesn't know God; the very God who is first and foremost in your life.  How can a woman who loves God and submits to Jesus Christ join herself to someone who submits to the world?  Corrupt associations with unbelievers can pervert our walk with Christ.  So, faced with such a dilemma, you'll have to ask yourself what your priorities are.

        Pay particular heed to the wise counsel of the Word of God.  For example, in Second Corinthians 6, the apostle Paul writes, "Do not be unequally yoked with unbelievers. For what partnership has righteousness with lawlessness? Or what fellowship has light with darkness?" (14).

*/ Questions to Ponder /*

  1. Do you think 2Cor6:14 applies to your situation?  Why or why not?

  2. Are you flirting with an unequally yoked partnership? God has called us to be holy, because we are holy (Ephesians 1:4; 1 Peter 2:9; Hebrews 10:14). Consider who you are in Christ and how such a union will impact your spiritual walk.

Faith, hope and love,

Colby

I will definitely pray for his salvation. I'm kinda thankful Colby stood up to the plate first because I didn't know exactly how to say what he said in a good way. You'll be in my prayers.

Thankyou soooooooo much it means a lot to me

Thanks Dude

I will pray for your boyfriend. Trust me I know how frustrating it can be when trying to introduce people to our Lord. God will pick his time with your friend. It is just up to you to plant the seed. I always have that in the back of my mind when I feel like the person I am trying to teach still stays on the wrong path. Just be gentle, let your caring ways come through. That is the best advice I can give you. Don't force it on him, be kind like God would want you to be.
