Have you ever been to a church for a number of months only to feel that God was asking you to leave that church simply because you sensed that religious pretentious wealth-focused members of its church?
I have and left many churches as a result. In fact, I can honestly say that the number of good churches and genuine Christians are in the minority.
Now I have started to go to another church which I consider healthy. The pastor and his wife are both open, vulnerable about their shortcomings and are both growth-oriented people. By comparison, the differences between the former church and the current church is huge. The former is a matter of facade, appearance, a feeling that I am stepping into a say...social club, cocktail party or even Hollywood life.
The number of hypocrites in the church is staggering that I am not surprised that not so many people are going to church or even impressed by Christians.
While I was going to the 1st church, I invited a non-Christian friend who came only once and did not go there any more.
I am wondering what you mean by religious pretentious wealth? are they praying for riches for wrong reasons? Because deuteronomy mentions only the Lord God will and can make you rich, it is why you are asking for it, that I believe is associated to whether he gives it? motive, are you concerned with more holidays or feeding the poor?
I am trying to figure out what you mean? I pray to have my bills paid, and our needs met, and yes would love some money to contribute to widows, and the poor etc..
if someone is merely focusing on wealth to buy their leather furniture and take more holidays and have investments, but is not thinking of helping anyone else with it, then I would believe that is not of God, and he probably would not give it either,
now unfortunately satan can also make you rich too, look at drug dealers? casinos? I mean people loose their homes at casinos?? cant be God to making sure those casinos are running so the people can have gambling problems and loose their homes and almost marriages too?
I am not ashamed to say I have asked for wealth, but for all the right reasons, to have a larger home so I can take in more animals out of cages, offer a poor family to garden in our yard so they can have a little garden, so I could donate money, so I could adopt little children overseas by paying that monthly cost so they could eat
I am not ashamed about asking for wealth for those reasons, but someone who merely wants it for themselves, should be a bit embarrassed by their selfish requests right?
