Brother Matthew:
These are some things I would share with my daughter. Maybe she's about your age. I don't know. My hope is that you can work on bringing your focus back to where it should be, back to God.
Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need. (Matthew 6:33 NLT)
Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed? (Matthew 6:31 KJV)
Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal: (Matthew 6:19)
For where your heart is, there will your heart be also. (Matthew 6:21 KJV)
Commit thy works unto the LORD, and thy thoughts shall be established. (Proverbs 16:3)
If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God. (Colossians 3:1)
My son, forget not my law; but let thine heart keep my commandments: (Proverbs 3:1)
It has never been about us or your wife. It's about God. It's about Jesus Christ. I've been seeing this more and more. Matthew, it's about God. We serve God and put Him first.
Love,
Mary
One other thought, Matthew. It's 50/50 whether your wife will leave or stay with you. Consider this...God's a sure thing. He never leaves you or forsakes you. God is going to love you forever. Who should you seek first? What should you treasure in your heart?
Love,
Mary
I know. She's a human being. People are going to disappoint you sometimes. Maybe we aren't going to live up to each other's expectations. I'm sorry about that. Did you know the Bible says that the person who believes will not be disgraced or ashamed. It's in Romans 10:11. Another translation I heard of is that we won't be disappointed. Your attention is so strong on your wife that it appears or seems like you may have taken it away from where it should be. God has feelings too you know. Food for thought.
Love,
Mary
Stay close to God's word in scripture. He will turn all that is bad to good. Your deep love for your wife as you lead by example of Jesus will help greatly. I am moved by your love and feel your frustration brother. Be calm and know that God is at work in you and your life. Praying for you both. God's love is perfect love.
He says,"Be still and know that I am God; I will be exalted among all nations, I will be exalted in the earth."
Matthew, God gives the increase. That's God's job. We plant and water. As Amanda said, the best thing you can do is to pray and ask for God's mercy for your wife and to bring her to repentance. There is still hope. Our job is to pray, be patient, study and learn the Bible, and walk in wisdom. You can also trust what God has said. He gives the increase, and He loves you very much.
So then neither is he that planteth any thing, neither he that watereth; but God that giveth the increase. (1 Corinthians 3:7 KJV)
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law. (Galatians 5:22-23 ESV)
Blessed is the man who finds wisdom, the man who gains understanding, (Proverbs 3:13 NIV)
Love,
Mary
Hi Brother Matthew, God bless you! I can't tell you what to do. But I'm suggesting that you ease up pressuring your wife to accept Jesus Christ. I assure you God's working on it.
Just posing a question, why pressure your wife to the point that it leaves a sour taste in her mouth? So that she hates or mistrusts all Christians? Maybe two months, one/two years later God has worked in her heart and the Word has worked in her heart and the miracle of all miracles could happen and she could believe. God can send different Christians to talk to her and win her to Himself. Why push your wife so hard so that she completely shuts down and gets all negative? Trust God to make it happen. Let God do His job. One Christian waters, another plants, but it is God who gives the increase.
Love,
Mary
Hi Amanda, God bless you!
He causeth the grass to grow for the cattle, and herb for the service of man: that he may bring forth food out of the earth; (Psalm 104:14)
We plant and water, but it is God who causes the plants to grow. He gives the Sonlight. :-)
Without God, I don't know if plants would grow on the earth. It's something we all take for granted. Psalms is very clear.
You always have these great references. Thank you!
Love you!
Mary
