Grieving
A good friend of mine passed away last night from bone cancer. I thought she was going to win this battle, but her body was tired and gave out. I'm having trouble coping with it this afternoon.
This is so goofy, but Linda had this humorous picture of a bear. I teased her that if it was ever missing, I borrowed it. She knew I was kidding. I've always loved the picture because it's Linda's sense of humor. Linda must have known something was wrong. The picture was given to me. It has "to Mary" on it.
A couple co-workers are cleaning her cubicle this afternoon. Which I felt was a little soon. I'm sniffling in my cubicle listening to them pack Linda's things to give to her mother. I think the picture kind of got to me.
I thought I'd talk to you all about it. My question is how do you handle grief? I know that God will help me and comfort me. And I believe in prayer.

Hey beloved,
I deal with grief a little different than most I think, so I will keep that to myself, but I did want to post this scripture for you and also tell you that I will pray that God comforts you:
2 Cor. 1:
3 Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, 4 who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God.
Rest in him sis - as you know he is there for you. Also think about the good times that are still to come in heaven with friends and family.

I think I was panicking because people were moving Linda's things and cleaning out her cubicle. I wanted to jump in front of her cubicle and shout don't touch anything! I didn't shout, but I did ask them to please slow down a little bit. There's no reason why all of it has to be taken care of today. It can wait a couple days. I dealt with one stack this afternoon. Linda's name isn't even in the newspaper yet.
I am feeling better now. You're right I'll rest in him and I know that I'll see her again.

I'm so sorry for your loss. No one can really tell you how to grieve. Everyone deals with it in different ways. I do want to let you know you're in my prayers.

Margaret and I sorted through some of the old supplies left behind in Linda's cubicle. We came up with several old empty boxes for the recycle barrel. We tore up and stomped the boxes. It was such good therapy. We obliterated those boxes. We're experiencing pent up feelings about Linda's passing.
"In your anger do not sin": Do not let the sun go down while you are still angry. (Ephesians 4:26)

Dear Mary,
It's O.K. to grieve......and we all do it differently.
Here's a little known Bible passage from the "New Living Translation" that might help at this time:
Isaiah 57:1-2, "The righteous pass away; the godly often die before their time. And no one seems to care or wonder why. No one seems to understand that God is protecting them from the evil to come. (2) For the godly who die will rest in peace."
And you have memories........our ability to catagorize treasures of life in the mind's library of joyous recollections we can check out any time.......and laugh.....and cry......and savor.....and share...................
Sister Mary, please accept a cyber-space Christian hug from a brother who is praying for you and Linda's loved ones.

From all I have seen of what you have shared, you Know and Love Our Lord. So as you go through all the parts of grief, go through then with Him.
13 The LORD looks down from heaven. He sees all of Adam's descendants.
14 From the place where He sits enthroned, He looks down upon all who live on earth.
15 The One Who formed their hearts understands everything they do.
16 No king achieves a victory with a large army. No warrior rescues himself by his own great strength.
17 Horses are not a guarantee for victory. Their great strength cannot help someone escape.
18 The LORD's eyes are on those who fear Him, on those who wait with Hope for His Mercy
19 to rescue their souls from death and keep them alive during a famine.
20 We wait for the LORD. He is our help and our shield.
21 In Him our hearts find Joy. In His Holy Name we Trust.
22 Let your mercy rest on us, O LORD, since we wait with hope for You. Ps 33:13-22
I trust you know my heart Sister, and I hope as you continue to Trust in Him some or all of these verses help. I Love this verse very much, 15 The One Who formed their hearts understands everything they do. In Him I am able to face what comes and what has arrived.Mary I am so very sorry you have lost a friend for a time. We know we will see all those who Trust in Him, so very soon. I will lift you up in Prayer and thoughts, in and by the Power of the Name of Jesus. The Wonderful thing is, we can Trust Him as we go through life. He can handle any and all of our emotions, so let them out. You are Protected with Peace and Hope.

Thank you for the prayers and Bible verses. I attended the visitation on Saturday. Having worked with Linda, I was around Linda more than her family. Several people from work shared with her family. We have her recipes. I was surprised her family was asking for her homemade pesto recipe. Linda made a lot of things from scratch. It felt good to give and share about Linda.
Her family had things from her apartment on display. She had a collection of yellow ducks. I started crying when I saw her yellow ducks.
