All About GOD - Growing Relationships with Jesus and Others

God transforms, the Spirit renews, and we clothe ourselves with Jesus, how?

In these verses Paul is speaking to believers, so we are included. We can see that they are struggling with their past. How do we “let” God transform us into new people by changing the way you think? Or, “let” the Spirit renew our thoughts and attitudes? Is it only by calling sin, sin? “Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, and throw off your old sinful nature and your former way of life, which is corrupted by lust and deception.” And, how do we throw off one nature and put another on? Or, how do we clothe ourselves with the presence of the Lord Jesus Christ?
1 And so, dear brothers and sisters, I plead with you to give your bodies to God because of all He has done for you. Let them be a Living and Holy Sacrifice—the kind He will find acceptable. This is truly the way to Worship Him. 2 Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect Rom 12:1-2
20 But that isn’t what you learned about Christ. 21 Since you have heard about Jesus and have learned the Truth that comes from Him, 22 throw off your old sinful nature and your former way of life, which is corrupted by lust and deception 23 Instead, let the Spirit renew your thoughts and attitudes. 24 Put on your new nature, created to be like God—truly Righteous and Holy. Eph 4:21-24 Instead, clothe yourself with the presence of the Lord Jesus Christ. And don’t let yourself think about ways to indulge your evil desires Rom 13:14

So often we spend time considering how we look. We have work clothes, just regular clothes, and nice clothes. Depending on what we are doing we chose the clothes to fit the occasion. Many consider how others we see them. Is it there that much of a stretch to compare, "putting on natures?" Don't we do the same thing? We want to represent Jesus in the best way possible.
Our natures change when we accept Jesus as Lord. Yet, we still struggle with the past at times. In humility we surrender to His Will and Ways, we "put on" Jesus not as a facade. But, the person we are in the Spirit, the person we are as God's children. We make a choice don't we? Not to impress others, but by our example leads others to Christ. When we see our natures as we see clothes, we see how the choice we have. Let others see who we are now in Christ, as opposed to the "rags" we wore when we were before.
I believe it is important that we understand, the power we have in Christ. And, how each day we consider just how the world can see the Change living for Christ can be. If we consider or not, the Father certainly can tell what we are wearing, and why.
