All About GOD - Growing Relationships with Jesus and Others

For God knew His people in advance, and He chose them to become like His Son...  Have you or heard others use this and other verses to justify how they live?  Have you heard the deck is stacked against us, so why bother?

26 And the Holy Spirit helps us in our weakness. For example, we don’t know what God wants us to pray for. But the Holy Spirit prays for us with groanings that cannot be expressed in words. 27 And the Father who knows all hearts knows what the Spirit is saying, for the Spirit pleads for us believers in harmony with God’s Own Will. 28 And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to His purpose for them. 29 For God knew His people in advance, and He chose them to become like His Son, so that His Son would be the firstborn among many brothers and sisters. 30 And having chosen them, He called them to come to Him. And having called them, He gave them right standing with Himself. And having given them right standing, He gave them His glory. {Rom 8:26-30} Some have taken these and many others verses to say, “If it is already decided, why should I bother?” Since God already knows the outcome what is the point? If I am Heaven bound then I sing, “don’t worry be happy.” If I am hell bound then what can I do to change that? Several points must be understood. Those who are called, are called according to His purpose for them. This means other people need who and what you are in Christ. If what we see means some are not called, then they have no care. True many are called but, few are chosen. Yet, the most glaring and obvious fact remains, we are not God. Only He knows what is to be or not be. Only the Creator can and will be the Judge. Fair or how we see right and wrong have nothing to do with things. And the Father who knows all hearts... means just that. We are asked to do a few things which are important. We must Believe in Jesus and what He has done for us. We need to obey the Word of God. To do that we must study the Word, to show ourselves approved. Instead of, getting hung up on some verses, to justify our behavior. We are told to spread the Word. To live as examples of the Love of Christ, to those around us. To exercise Faith can take a lifetime. Let us be at the work at hand. And, not twist scripture to suit how we act; how we live.

Hi Chris
What do you mean by "To excercise Faith can take a lifetime"

Hello Cella

You have a good question, I did not word that completely correct.  The ability to be effective in how we operate in Faith can take a long time.  Many times it seems people pick and chose verses to suit their view point.  Instead of, changing how they act according to the Word.  Again, my point should have been more clear.  We need to focus on how we can best serve Our Lord, and those around us.  And, not justify behavior or judge others based on The Word, from a narrow viewpoint.

I said all that to also say again, only God can Judge anyone.  And, no one knows the heart of a man, except the spirit of the man...  Thanks for asking the question.

Bless you and good to meet you.
