God Is Touching Prodigal Spouses' Hearts -
"For this very reason, Christ died and returned to life so that
he might be the Lord of both the dead and the living. You,
then, why do you judge your brother? Or why do you look down on
your brother? For we will all stand before God's judgment seat.
It is written: "'As surely as I live,' says the Lord, 'every
knee will bow before me; every tongue will confess to God.'"
So then, each of us will give an account of himself to God."
Romans 14:9-12
Do you go to church every week worshiping and praising the Lord?
Does your church have Bible study before or after the church
service where you can learn more about the Bible and get to meet
some other Christians? Maybe you will meet one person, same sex,
who may become a prayer partner for you during this season of
your life. In fact, there are many churches who have a special
prayer time before the services that you could join and pray for
the Lord to anoint your pastor and bring the lost and prodigal
spouses to your church as your pastor presents the Gospel of
Jesus Christ. You are the perfect person to be a prayer warrior
at your church. You know the importance of prayer for you and
others personally.
"This is good, and pleases God our Savior, who wants all men to
be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth. For there is
one God and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ
Jesus, who gave himself as a ransom for all men—the testimony
given in its proper time." I Timothy 2:3-5
Are you praying for you husband or wife to go to church every
week? You need to be praying every day that they will have a
hunger and thirst for the Lord Jesus Christ and His Word. You
may think that they will never go, but you do not know if or when
they will turn on the television or turn on the radio and
something will attract their attention as they hear a Pastor
preaching a sermon. By the power of the Holy Spirit, the Lord
can use their eyesight or their hearing to hear the right words
to get your prodigal spouse or a rebellious child's attention to
listen for at least a few minutes.
As you and I continue to pray Psalm 51 daily and other scriptures,
please pray that your beloved spouse or teenager or young adult
will want to go to church with you or that they, on their own,
will start seeking the Lord. You need to pray specifically by
asking the Lord to have them go to a church that is on-fire for
families, marriages, salvations and healings. We want them to go
to a church where they preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ every
service, asking their people, "Where are you spiritually? Are
you battling some sin?" Let me share an early Saturday testimony
that we received this weekend that confirms the power of the Holy
Spirit in a church service:
"Last week my husband came to see the children. He had decided
that he would go to church with us. After the service, he
asked if he could come again with us the following week. This
week when he came to church with us again, he did something
that made my heart swell. At the end of the service, my pastor
reminded us to live our lives as the Lord wants us to. So when
we come face to face with the Lord, we are happy to see Him and
not be fearful because of what we were doing in the world. At
that moment, my husband grabbed my hand and touched my ring.
Praise the Lord!" (New Jersey)
"See to it, brothers, that none of you has a sinful, unbelieving
heart that turns away from the living God. But encourage one
another daily, as long as it is called Today, so that none of
you may be hardened by sin's deceitfulness. We have come to
share in Christ if we hold firmly till the end the confidence
we had at first. As has just been said: "Today, if you hear his
voice, do not harden your hearts as you did in the rebellion."
Hebrews 3:12-15
Let us pray daily that all husbands, wives and children will not
harden their hearts. You could allow your heart to become harden
when you are standing for your spouse.
Many years ago, when I was standing, I read a scripture that seem
to leap off the page as a special "rhema word" to me. I know you
may have had that happen if you are faithful in reading the Bible
daily as you ask the Holy Spirit to speak to you when you read
the Word. I believed that this scripture was for me to share a
warning to Bob who was living in the far country of sin at God's
perfect timing, not mine. Little did I know that Bob was also
being warned from the Lord that if he did not stop sinning, that
Bob could have a fatal accident as he was becoming an
embarrassment to the cause of Christ. I finally shared the
scripture (see below) in love to Bob, but he did not acknowledge
his sins or repent that day, but the Lord kept speaking to his
heart until Bob obeyed and he had his own Damascus Road
experience. Dear stander, God is speaking to your spouse all the
time, please stop doubting and pray for their obedience to the
Holy Spirit's wooing.
"Son of man, I have made you a watchman for the house of
Israel; so hear the word I speak and give them warning from
me. When I say to a wicked man, 'You will surely die,' and you
do not warn him or speak out to dissuade him from his evil ways
in order to save his life, that wicked man will die for his
sin, and I will hold you accountable for his blood. But if you
do warn the wicked man and he does not turn from his wickedness
or from his evil ways, he will die for his sin; but you will
have saved yourself." Ezekiel 3:17-19
This is one more reason that you need to do daily devotions with
your children and teenagers. Make them fun. They need to know
the Bible stories and scriptures for the Lord to bring to
remembrance as they grow up to being a teenager or an adult.
God's Word will never return void in our lives. I pray that
today you will start praying that thousands of prodigal spouses
will repent and turn their hearts to their Savior and Lord Jesus
Christ every weekend. The Lord does a lot of eternal business on
weekends whether your spouse is in church or in a hotel room.
Will you do your part in fasting and praying for their soul?
"Therefore let all Israel be assured of this: God has made this
Jesus, whom you crucified, both Lord and Christ." When the
people heard this, they were cut to the heart and said to Peter
and the other apostles, "Brothers, what shall we do?" Peter
replied, "Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name
of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will
receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. The promise is for you and
your children and for all who are far off—for all whom the Lord
our God will call." With many other words he warned them; and
he pleaded with them, "Save yourselves from this corrupt
generation." Those who accepted his message were baptized, and
about three thousand were added to their number that day."
Acts 2:36-41
Where are you today? Get right with the Lord today!
God bless,
