All About GOD

All About GOD - Growing Relationships with Jesus and Others

HI,

Whenever I talk to my christian friends, we have awesome deep conversations about God. It's one of the first things we talk about when we see each other. But out all of my friends, there's one of them that doesn't seem to want to talk about God. This person is a christian but i can't get this person to talk about God. So one day, I confronted this person about it and the excuse was "God is too personal." I was speechless, so my question is, what should be the appropriate response to that?

Maybe he feels intimidated because he feels he doesn't know enough about the word to participate. Maybe he thinks he'll make an idiot out of himself. As far as your approach, I think I would not pressure him to say anything. That could come between you guys' relationship & make you seem all holier then thou to him. He might then begin to avoid you. He'll share in due time.

However, if you do choose to confront him, I would use some of the following Scriptures.

They overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony.Revelation 2:11

As iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another. Proverbs 27:17

Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Matthew 28:19

Hey Brandan,

It is good to hear from you my brother. I can only assume as to what his statement "God is too personal," means to your friend or rather what he meant to convey to you with it, but I will share what comes to my mind immediately as I read it.

God indeed is very personal, too personal for many, who still want to do things that go against his teachings. I remember God taking over my life completely the day I was born again and then gradually speaking to me about the areas of my life I had to change. Some things were easy to give up and change, while others took many years for me to surrender. After 17 years of walking with Christ, it remains a daily dying to self, a daily abiding in him to overcome the flesh.

Your friend sounds like he is saying: God topics are too personal, I would have to be transparent with you and the others, and I am not comfortable doing that.

God indeed is very personal and he won't relent until He has it all, all of us:

You won't relent until You, have it all My heart is Yours

You won't relent until You, have it all My heart is Yours

I'll set You as a seal upon my heart

As a seal upon my arm

For there is love that is as strong as death Jealousy demanding as the grave

And many waters cannot quench this love

Come be the fire inside of me

Come be the flame upon my heart

Come be the fire inside of me Until You and I are One
I don't want to talk about You Like You're not in the room I want to look right at You

some people will use the excuse and say "your relationship with God and you is meant to be personal".

They are basically afraid and can't see the things they are doing wrong or want to admit them!

once again Isaiah was right, they honour him with their lips but their hearts are far away!

Isaiah is a cool name man:)
