All About GOD - Growing Relationships with Jesus and Others

HOW MANY TIMES DO WE GET OFFENDED BY OUR OWN FAMILY OR FRIENDS, OR, STRANGERS, AND DO WE REACT LIKE JESUS?

DO WE TURN THE OTHER CHEECK?

HOW MANY TIMES DO WE SEE SOMEONE MAKING FUN OF US AND DO WE TURN THE OTHER CHEECK?

HOW MANY TIMES DO WE SEE SIN AND DO WE REACT LIKE JESUS OR DO WE TURN OUR CHEECK SO WE DONT SEE IT?

JUST WONDER?  DO WE REACT LIKE JESUS? OR DO WE LOVE LIKE JESUS?  DO WE GIVE UP ON THOSE THAT ARE LOST? OR DO WE LOVE THEM, EVEN WHEN THEY HURT US..?

DO WE TURN THE OTHER CHEECK?

A broader question would simply be "do we actually act like Jesus?" The answer is for those who have been born again that we are not what we used to be and we are not fully yet what we will be. Thus, at times we will display the character of Christ and at other times fall into the trap of acting in the flesh.

Positionally we are righteous and holy as we have been changed and now are indwelt by the Holy Spirit who brings the very nature of Christ to us. Experientially we are works in progress. We still live in a fallen world, with fallen people, we are still in the fallen flesh and have and adversary who stands against us. As we mature, meaning the nature of Christ is being manifested in us, we will demonstrate more and more the characteristics of Jesus. There is a growth process that is God's to complete in each new child of God.

Back to your orginal question. Learning to turn the other cheek is a part of the maturing process. It is one thing to know the command and quite another to be empowered to carry it out. The empowerment comes with maturity.

Sounds like you are a lot like me ... a work in progress and a work that will be completed (Philippians 1:6).
