All About GOD - Growing Relationships with Jesus and Others

When someone struggles with the sins of the flesh, does it mean that on the day of judgement, Jesus will say to them, "Depart from me, for I never knew you?

I think the answer lies in whether the person Christ is speaking to is a born again believer. We aren't sin-free because we live in an evil world and we don't have the ability to sidestep all sin. We live in the middle of it and some is bound to rub off (so to speak) or at least influence us in some ways. I think Christ's Words are reserved for those who don't know Him, never tried to know Him, and therefore, are not worthy of being admitted into Heaven. Heaven is Christ's home, and just as with our own homes, not everyone will be welcome there. If they were to be welcomed there, regardless of their beliefs, Heaven would soon be like the world.

Rita
Thank you Dear Sister; this is a wonderful explaination of the Fathers love for us,...
This I feel is referring to the sense knowledge religionists, As depicted in 1Cor.13:1-4, ie
#1.
Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels,
. #2.
And though I have the gift of prophecy,
*and understand all mysteries,
*and all knowledge;
*and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains,
#3.
And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor,
*and though I give my body to be burned,

But with-out God [God is love] you will be as others that try to get to heaven on their self-righteousness, goodness and works. And you are in the sight of God as nothing. This is why He can say depart from me I never knew you.
But Lord have I not done all these things in your name? I never knew you!

But the good news is; we can do all these things in the Name of Jesus, if we are walking in Love; and Love is living is us, the attributes will be as follows.
[ I have posted this before]

And because I walk in love and love lives in me
# 1 I endure long
# 2 I am patient and kind
# 3 I am never envious, nor do I boil over with jealousy
# 4 I am never boastful or vainglorious
# 5 I never display myself haughtily
# 6 I am not conceited, arrogant or inflated with pride
# 7 I am never rude or unmannerly
# 8 I never act unbecomingly
# 9 I never insist on my own rights or my own ways
# 10 I am never self seeking
# 11 I am never touchy, fretful or resentful
# 12 I take no account of an evil done to me
# 13 I pay no attention to a suffered wrong
# 14 I do not rejoice at injustice and unrighteousness
# 15 I do rejoice when right and truth prevail
# 16 I bear up under anything and everything that comes
# 17 I am ever ready to believe the best of everyone
# 18 My hopes are fadeless under all circumstances
# 19 I endure everything without weakening
# 20 For the love in me never fails, never fades out becomes obsolete or comes to an end.

We will know them by their fruit!
What kind of fruit are we bearing?
Blessings
Joe
The words here were spoken to those who pretend they have accomplished goodness by following a system of rules that they pretend that God has written. The system exonerates them while condemning others. It is the Pharisaical system of old. These are those who set themselves up as righteous and indicating that others must reach their level of goodness to be accepted by God.

There is only one way to heaven and that is through Jesus. There are still people today that feel they have the system. The rules usually are those that they don't have a problem with. Throw away that system of rules. Get rid of the old. What if there were a world without sin? Wouldn't that be a wonderful world? What if you never had to worry again about not offending your Lord? What if you could get to the place of knowing that even if you did fail, He would never let you go? Mischelle, wouldn't that be a wonderful place?

Well, there is a real place like that. It is called the place of His grace. There are many people on this site that need to find this place. They are consumed with their sin. The Pharisaical system has them nailed. They are convinced that they have to live up to a certain standard to be acceptable in God's sight. They feel like God is happy with them when they are good and sad with them when they are not. They do not have freedom in Christ.

You can be free. I pray that you will be.

Roy
Well said Roy,

Couldn't agree more with your answer, it often surprises me how many Christians still try to live up to a perfect life to please the world and show they are different. If Christians would only relax in God's grace and live their lifes as best they can. No one is perfect, we all are human and the devil takes great pleasure in reminding us of it time and time again, but with our eyes on Jesus we should forget how the world falsely judges the Christian community and live to please God not the world.

Going back to the question, Jesus died so our sins could be forgiven, we will sin all our lives but if we have faith in Jesus and know we our children of God, He knows the faith that is in our hearts and will greet us with open arms on the day of judgement.

Robert
How refreshing it is to hear from someone that knows his salvation is in Jesus and in Him alone. I pray that your answer is helpful to Mischelle and she also finds that place of rest knowing that He will greet us with open arms on that day of judgment.

God bless you,
Roy
Michelle, I think this is dealing with 'repentance'. Repentance means to 'turn around/ to change. Jesus said, "If You Love me, you will obey My commandments". He told the woman "Go, and sin no more"....He told the cripple, Sin no more lest a worse thing come to you". It would seem that many are trying to justify living in sin. They are 'saved'...so they can now do whatever they desire. These same people would tell you that by adhering to Holinesss that we "pretend they have accomplished goodness by following a system of rules that they pretend that God has written." Jesus Himself told us to ''obey His Commandments" You should pray for God to reveal the truth, of whether you should obey Jesus, or those who are 'squirming' and not willing to give up their sinful life.
But what think ye? A certain man had two sons; and he came to the first, and said, Son, go work to day in my vineyard.
He answered and said, I will not: but afterward he repented, and went.
And he came to the second, and said likewise. And he answered and said, I go, sir: and went not.
Whether of them twain did the will of his father? They say unto him, The first. Jesus saith unto them, Verily I say unto you, That the publicans and the harlots go into the kingdom of God before you.
For John came unto you in the way of righteousness, and ye believed him not: but the publicans and the harlots believed him: and ye, when ye had seen it, repented not afterward, that ye might believe him.Matthew 21:28-32
Forgiven,

No one is encouraging anyone to live a sinful life. I just know you haven't overcome all your sin (probably not even a small portion of it) and yet you are on here requiring others to overcome theirs. You need to first get rid of the plank in your own eye before you start looking for a speck in someone else's. When you have gotten rid of your sin then you can start telling others to get rid of theirs.

The reason Jesus got along with the publicans and the sinners more than He did with the Pharisees was simply because they knew they were in desperate need of His forgiveness. The only thing that saves you from your sin is your faith and not a single work you have done or are doing. You have not one ounce of righteousness in yourself. Whatever sin you may have overcome doesn't put you ahead of anyone. Your only hope is that you believe in Him. Those who believe in Him are forgiven of their sin and those who don't believe in Him are not forgiven.

If you are not careful you are going to become so self-righteous that you will begin to say that people's sickness is a result of their sin.

I know this seems harsh and a brother in Christ should not talk harsh. However, you are teaching others that they are not righteous because they are not obeying His commandments. Since you are not able to do so, why do you insist others do? You have done absolutely nothing to deserve His forgiveness and you will never do anything to deserve it. You will never be more righteous in this life as you were the day He gave you His. Our righteousness is in Him and in Him alone.

I don't know you. I am probably assuming wrong but I am guessing you are young in Christ. You are ambitious and quite confident that you are going to be able to overcome your sin. I hate to spoil your party but you are not going to be able to do that. You will need Him and His righteousness until He finally takes you home with Him. After that, I don't know what but until then, you will need Him as much as you needed Him when you were totally lost in your sin. You will never be able to boast that you are obeying all His commandments. And, if you break just one you are guilty of breaking the entire Law. You need to find a different system. It is called the system of grace.

When you say things like "You should pray for God to reveal the truth, of whether you should obey Jesus, or those who are 'squirming' and not willing to give up their sinful life," who are you talking about? Are you talking about me? In the parable, are you the good son? What was this terrible sin that the Pharisees were committing? It was their pretentious attitude that they had actually accomplished a level of goodness in their lives. That is the Pharisaical system that God hates. We needed Christ in the beginning, we need Him now and we will need Him until the day we leave this evil world.

If you have left all your sin, please tell us. Otherwise, just tell me how grateful we need to be since Christ has already done everything for us and we can have peace with God now. It is time to leave that Pharisaical system and get a hold of Him. He is your only salvation. Overcoming some of your sin is a good thing but that is not what makes God happy with you. God loves you because you are His child. He loves you because you belong to Him. You are full of sin (in your flesh) yet you still belong to Him. You have not overcome your flesh, yet you still belong to Him.

Your relationship with God is not based on how much of your sin you have overcome. Your relationship with God is based on your faith in His Son. He does not recognize anything less than that. He is not surprised that you have not yet overcome your flesh. He is completely aware of all your weaknesses and yet He still loves you. He is not disappointed in you when you fail. He is the One Who is picking you up, brushing you off, and telling you to keep going. He is the One encouraging us to never give up no matter how impossible our weaknesses seems.

God bless you, brother. There is a place where the emphasis is on Him and what He has done rather than upon ourselves and what we haven't yet done or what we should do or even what we have been able to do. It is the place of His grace where once we are in Him, He will never ever leave us and will never ever disown us. He will never ever say to any of His children, "Depart from me, I never knew you." The only people that will hear those words are those who feel they are pretty good in themselves and I know you are not in that group.

Also forgiven,
Roy
i see you are all talking about forgiving, how do you get over and forgive someone that has attacked you in vile vile ways
i need help on this one
Clare,

Love is a choice. Forgiveness is a choice also.
You know this verse:

Mat 6:14 "For if you forgive [fn] others for their transgressions, your heavenly Father will also forgive you.

Mat 6:15 "But if you do not forgive [fn] others, then your Father will not forgive your transgressions.

When we allow ourselves to forgive rather then hold a grudge, we 'put on' humility and meekness'. Knowing that God humbled Himself to come to earth as a man to take on our punishment, to forgive our sins. We have been forgiven of 'so much'. God commands that since we have been forgiven, we are also to forgive. Trust in God, not man. I believe that if we can all get to that point we will not even get to the point of being offended. All of us are depraved and broken and in need of a Savior. Look at the person who has sinned against you in that way, and you will know their great need of a Savior even if they don't know it yet. You will be able to show them compassion, mercy and forgiveness because you see yourself in them, and you know how merciful, compassionate and forgiving God has been towards you.

I am forgiven also... This has led me to forgive others in ways that have left me baffled..and others baffled also.
I believe we have a hard time forgiving others, because we look at things from our finite human perspectives. We expect alot of people, and they are never able to live up to our expectations. Are our expectations unreasonable? I don't know! We are made in the image of God, and He has high expectations. However, we have been broken and damaged by sin. God has such compassion for us becasue He knows how weak we are. Turn your eyes off of people and onto Jesus, and forgiveness will come.

When we forgive others in this manner it is Glorifying to God and shows of His Power to change our hearts. Our God is an Awesome God.

Blessings and Love in Christ, Carla
i know ur right carla the hate though i have i dont feel it so much more than i think it, when something comes in your head a few times a day and the thing that reminds you is living down the road, i just want it out my head. the "how dare he get away with that" just nags for revenge, its the want for revenge too that wont go away
does that make sense?
Sure Clair.. And then this verse takes over:

Rom 12:19 Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but [rather] give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance [is] mine; I will repay, saith the Lord.

God is in control. He is Just. He is Judge!
Hand it all to Him and be free..
Our beautiful Savior wants you to be free.. ;-)

Blessings, Carla
