With different modern kind of music styles and accompaniment, is this makes Christian music better or worse?

I agree with you

Can I frame this  and keep this as a momento? lol

haha - sure.
I also need to say that some music is designed to quiet the soul. Saul is not the only one who struggled with demons. We face so many problems in life that sometimes our souls get to moving when they should be quieted - at least that has been my experience. Not only can music get us going, it can also slow us down. God gave David this gift. There are some with the same gift today.

Grazer, for what it's worth.. I've been reading through this discussion, I agree also.  There are many fantastic points made here by many people.  It does come down to music being very personal for people, and the ways we each worship our Lord will be personal and individual also.  Music is very emotional for me, it always has been.  I believe the lyrics are of the utmost importance, although the beat, downbeat, rythmn, melody...  all these parts which made up the whole ....they all matter!  When we are in worship of the One and only true God..  we might all be moved to tears continually..  and if it is not tears...  then it should be Joy and Thankfulness indescribable...  The important thing to notice is that some people are quiet, and rather shy by nature...  they may be outwardly looking rather composed and reserved, but inwardly they are pouring themselves out to our Lord.

Amen Carla. I think the Lyrics are very imprortant, especially if they are Bible based.

Thank you for sharing dear sister.

God bless

I believe God gives all His singers a variety of ranges to blend with each other, and the same with musicians, Different genre's of music to speak to different people.God touches people through all kinds of music,so it should of course make Christian music better.

I personally like Southern Gospel and Christain Rock.(smile)

Remember, God loves you.

Bye for now

Hi Amanda, thank you for replying.

I have tried tom listen to this video, but I am having a little technical problem at the moment...typical haha.

God called me late last year to present my own radio show on a Christian Radio station, and the genre I play is Gospel & Christian Rock... Delirious, Casting Crowns, Jars Of Clay etc...

Why Should The Devil Have All The Good Music??? Actually he doesn't but he would like to have lol.

Take care dear Sister.

Remember, God loves you.

Hey Amanda, Awesome video Sis, thank you for sharing. I have  heard of Rich, yes, but God only called me into the radio ministry 6 months ago.

He had a wonderful sense of humour, like you say, he was so real.

Bless you Sis x

Presently to some music becomes the trigger of emotions and feelings and anything will not get done without it.

Somehow most of the christians are giving importance and same degree for music, same with the word of God.

Thinking that services and gatherings will be bland without music, thinking God will not speak or move without music.

Prayers must be weigh more than much than music when  it comes to preparing our hearts and mind for Gods dealings and works.

our Lord set the best example how to talk to God and how God would talk to us. Music is a spice not the main dish.

GOD saved, heal, restore, build, provide, destroy, encourage, give joy, give life, etc..........................

Amanda,

I'm not sure that I understand what you are saying when you say that music is strictly for human entertainment. It does so much more than just entertain us. Have you read Ps 150 lately? I think I am going to disagree with your post here. What am I hearing in your statement? Something doesn't sound right? I can certainly understand some of your feelings about entertainment in the church but God did intend for us to have music. Can you imagine just considering Michael W Smith as only an entertainer. The man really knows how to lead people into worship. It is a gift straight from God. Others have the same gift. We desire to worship God and this kind of gift helps us to accomplish that. This kind of spiritual worship includes obedience. To refuse this would be disobedient since He has commanded us to sing unto Him.

However, I certainly understand the times we don't feel like we are feeling anything. Nothing seems to help - maybe even music. We still must follow Him but those times won't last forever. Joy comes in the morning. Your morning is about to dawn. Rejoice!

Gotcha, I fully agree. I think there is a little bit of a language barrier that might be hindering the discussion. My oldest son introduced me to Christian rock. At first I was very resistant but latter came on in with the rest of the church. Now, in our city, the only Christian music available is rock. I am certainly glad that I like it. It blesses me and gets me moving. However, I still enjoy the good old hymns. My oldest son was a fan of Rich Mullins. He was captivated by his lifestyle. He actually died here in Kansas. My son is now a pastor of a very large church in Wyoming. He recently invited a member of the Rich Mullin team to put on a concert at the church. Needless to say, he was thrilled as they discussed the gentleman's (I don't know his name) ministry and, of course, the life of Rich Mullins. My son still speaks of Rich often.
