With different modern kind of music styles and accompaniment, is this makes Christian music better or worse?

It should make it better if they're prepared to think outside the box a bit

Grazer,
Such comments are interesting, but lack context for understanding. Please define the "box" you refer to.

I find most Christian music to be very similar; guitar, drums, keys, vocals
They may have a bass guitar and some electric but they're usually just back up. Overall the song is playing 4 beat chords, basic melodies....nothing out of the ordinary. All the artists are too similar. They need push the limits a bit with some heavy bass guitar, lengthy solos.....not just verse/chorus/verse/chorus every track.Something like this:
Crowd is rockin - that's how it should be!!! If there is stuff like this out there, I think it needs to be more prominent
Outside of bands, DJ's/dance music. Doesn't need to have lyrics, make up your own. Just express yourself.
There is such a variety of genre of music that could so be fully utilized yet is so under-whelmed.
Grazer,
Without lyrics the music is neutral. The determinng factor when then be the setting in which the music is being played and the type of response and activity that is being displayed by those gathered.
(BTW, I could not get either video to play for me, so I have not watched them. Will try again later)

I disagree, music sets the pace of the track, sets the tone of the track, lyrics are extra. Tracks like O Fortuna by Carl Orff. The lyrics can be anything its the music that makes the track.
It's also about performance. In the video above (which is a live performance of Caroline by Status Quo) they're just giving it everything, most Christian artists I've seen seem to just stand there and sing
Grazer,
I will also expand on what I said for clarity. Lyrics make or break a song when there are lyrics attached tot he music. If the lyrics are bad the music does not matter in the least. Good sounding music cannot override ungodly lyrics. Remove the lyrics and the music is neutral. Without lyrics the deciding factor as to whether the music is good or evil is not the tune, but the actions that surround the music. You could take the same track w/o lyrics and find people worshiping God and others in another place using it to worship Satan. Thus, it cannot be all about performance, but rather focus.
Keep in mind that I am not referring to any particular style of music, because you will find good and bad in all genre of music.

I agree with the idea that some are bland. Might I add that because we are all unique what is bland to you may be powerful to another and what is powerful to you of little to no impact to another. That is why there are so many styles. Praise God that He can and does use variety to reach and impact people.

Grazer,
What is the 4th chord? The three basic chords are one, four and five. Anyway, I love a good rhythm and good guitar, bass, etc. I do, however, think we should be able to understand the lyrics and the lyrics need to bring glory to God. I think some of the heavy metal brings more glory to man that God.
The lyrics express the mind of the musician. Music is a wonderful thing. If it takes heavy metal to get your mind going, I guess I shouldn't say what I'm thinking. How much should you have to move to express that which is inside of you? There is nothing wrong with moving around unless the movement is designed to be seductive.
Did you know there has actually been research on the lives of rock and roll stars? The study conducted found that rock and roll stars are twice as likely as normal to die young. Do you have any idea why that might be true? I think the kind of music you are advocating can be harmful to the performer as well as to the listener. According to a CBS news report, the average life expectancy for a British Rock and Roll star was 35 during the years 1965 to 2005. You can read it for yourself: http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2007/09/04/entertainment/main3230264....
Anyway, I think many of these albums should come with a warning attached: Danger - a short life expectancy can result from this music lifestyle.
Blessings,
Roy
Hi Roy
Sorry, I usually count beats/time beats in groups of 4, that's what I meant
