All About GOD

All About GOD - Growing Relationships with Jesus and Others

I read this post on FaceBook: Announcing "I'm so blessed!" is just bragging that the Lord bought your affection with things He cruelly withheld from those in more need.

What are your thoughts on what she said here?

Three quick thoughts:

1) Blanket statements like this usually are too generic and really do not convey a single truth since there is no real example, just a wide range statement.

2) When we believe God has blessed us is it really from God or just part of life? It is a hard question to answer, but not everything is caused directly by the hand of God just as not everything bad is caused directly by the hand of the enemy.

3) What excites the person about the blessing if it is a material blessing? Is it that they got a thing or are they excited about the Giver of the blessing?

4) If a blessing is meant to be enjoyed, and I believe God gives us such things, are we to act so pious as to reject the blessing and deny giving God glory?

5) The Word of God says this regarding God ... Mat 20:15 NASB  'Is it not lawful for me to do what I wish with what is my own? Or is your eye envious because I am generous?' This was said in relation to the workers all receiving the same amount by working different amounts of time. One of the principles here is that God as the owner has the right to do what He wishes with what is His. If God blesses some one who are we to question that blessing. If the blessing was meant to be shared and the person does not share then there will be ramifications for disobedience ... but, some time I think God just likes to bless us and that blessing can come in many different forms.

Just some quick thoughts.

You made great points. A friend of mine had shared another woman's wall that had this on it & I was curious about what some thought about it. Thanks for sharing.

When we believe God has blessed us is it really from God or just part of life? It is a hard question to answer, but not everything is caused directly by the hand of God just as not everything bad is caused directly by the hand of the enemy.

I always go to James 1:17 - Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.

Therefore I consider any good thing in life to be a blessing from God.

Thanks

OUR LIFE IS OUR BURDEN WE HAVE THE MAJORITY OF CONTROL OVER OUR LIVES AND SO WE CANNOT HOLD GOD ENTIRELY RESPONSIBLE WHILE HOLDING OURSELVES COMPLETELY UNACCOUNTABLE.

Whoever said that has an extremely immature perspective and has sinned greatly by spreading doubt to so many people through that post. The internet in general is full of people like that. Which is just another manifestation of the oppression Christians will have to endure.

And to elaborate, depending on our level of faith God can provide rewards and greater assistance but unless we have been chosen to serve man it is up to us to make our own choices and reap the benefits or lack thereof.
God is meant to be the main provider of your life at this present time. You are. He is just supposed to assist you.

I believe that when God blesses us it's never just for ourselves.  It's always so we will pour it out to others.

We can't know every single circumstance of why or how God blesses someone, and the person who made the comment "I'm so blessed" seems to have the right attitude by being grateful.

Maybe God is blessing them because they are making the practice of being grateful and generous.

There are always going to be people in need, so there are always many opportunities to turn that to serve others.

As we realize how 'blessed we are, and since we know God and realize His love for us, we want to express that love in service towards others.  Hebrews 12:28; 2 Cor 9:12; 2 Cor 9:13; Hebrews 6:10.  We can only give away what we first received.

Blessings, Carla

I think there's a heart attitude on both the speaker and the hearer.  If the speaker is saying this out of pride, then they're in the wrong.  If the hearer allows bitterness and covetous to creep in, they are wrong.  But if the speaker is saying this to thank God and to help others see that God is listening and does bless us, and the hearer gains hope for such blessings in their own life and is happy for the one blessed, then they are both done in the right manner.
