Yes, Thanks for sharing, LT. This is what helped me as I searched the Scriptures, seeking answers and asking almost this same question of others -- realizing it's transformation and a supernatural work that God is doing in me and not a code, or the letter of the law, but the Spirit -- and also the relationship: is there one? The story of the Prodigal helps as well. The relationship existed between the father and the son and the son wandered away but returned and was restored. As far as knowing if one is born again, the Spirit of God will witness it to you personally and affirm it. No one was able to make me believe I was born again or able to convince me or give me that assurance, only Him. But, as I think about it this moment, I think it doesn't really matter if one can answer the question of whether or not they are being restored from a backslidden condition or actually being saved because all that matters is that one belongs to the Beloved Jesus Christ in the present moment and for eternity hereafter. Thank you for sharing your wisdom with others, for caring and feeding His sheep, and for building people up in their faith, LT.

I agree that the key is knowing that we "are in relaionship" with Him and this is the work of the Holy Spirit to assure us of this important truth.

This morning I read again the Scripture of 2 Cor 3:7-18, and it kind of goes a long with what you have said here about “many can attempt to force these fruit in their lives and live them as a type of code, but true Christianity involves transformation” and it just really is a beautiful thing to have this current understanding, which the understanding itself is a testimony to me of how my mind is being renewed and we are “being transformed into his image with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit” (verse 18).

It’s beautiful how we can have moments when so many points of light all finally come together at once and I seem to be having more and more of those moments, but, at the same time, more and more opposition from the other side of the spiritual battle. But here is the Scripture that comforts me today:

　

　

The Greater Glory of the New Covenant

7 Now if the ministry that brought death, which was engraved in letters on stone, came with glory, so that the Israelites could not look steadily at the face of Moses because of its glory, transitory though it was, 8 will not the ministry of the Spirit be even more glorious?

9 If the ministry that brought condemnation was glorious, how much more glorious is the ministry that brings righteousness! 10 For what was glorious has no glory now in comparison with the surpassing glory. 11 And if what was transitory came with glory, how much greater is the glory of that which lasts!

12 Therefore, since we have such a hope, we are very bold. 13 We are not like Moses, who would put a veil over his face to prevent the Israelites from seeing the end of what was passing away. 14 But their minds were made dull, for to this day the same veil remains when the old covenant is read. It has not been removed, because only in Christ is it taken away.

15 Even to this day when Moses is read, a veil covers their hearts. 16 But whenever anyone turns to the Lord, the veil is taken away. 17 Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. 18 And we all, who with unveiled faces contemplate[a] the Lord’s glory, are being transformed into his image with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit.
