Let me tease out your question to better understand it and help you by asking you to respond to the following questions.  If you do not feel these questions get at what is troubling you, please disregard.

 

• Why do you think someone with "tremendous doubt God exists," and by extension, presumably has a comparable level of doubt about an after-life, would be particularly concerned about hell? 

 

• Do you think that the message of hell fire and damnation is more of a motivator to come to faith (a fire insurance policy) than the Gospel message or Good News of Jesus Christ, which brings forgiveness of our sins, reconciliation with God, and eternal life?  Why or why not?

 

• Next, what do you mean by "Religious OCD" (Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder)?  How is it manifested and what are its effects or consequences?

 

• Is there anything else you want to add concerning the matter that is troubling you?

If it's ok to ask. Are you a born-again Christian doubting He exists or do you just doubt His existence?
