I was just reading through one of Bev's discussions and she mentioned a section of verses in 2 Thess 2 which brought to mind verses, 2 Thess 2:9-10, verses that I have pondered for several years, and every time I see them, I start wondering again. I have prayed over this verse (10) for a long time, and have my thoughts on it, but am wondering where I stand in my understanding.
The verses read, "the coming of the lawless one is by the activity of Satan with all power and false signs and wonders, and with all wicked deception for those who are perishing, because the refused to love the truth and so be saved". (ESV)
To me this means that those who are in rebellion will perish BUT it says "for those that are perishing". Now I know that in the Revelation of Jesus Christ that there will be myriad saved during the tribulation. I have heard pastors say that if one doesn't accept Christ after hearing the gospel spoken in clarity, that one will perish. I know of people who don't understand, they just don't get it, and I do not think those people are included in this.
To me, there are those who refuse God, but there are those who can't grasp God. The word "clarity", my question is clarity for whom? I would think it meant the hearer, but to some pastors, it means how he is preaching it.
I would greatly appreciate any and all input to my confusion on this subject. Possibly one of you could help me either continue as I am now, or help me see the verse differently.
